Wildlife, Heritage & Nature Safari Tour
Welcome to Sri Lanka. Meet your tour representative at Bandaranaike International Airport and enjoy a comfortable private transfer to the coastal town of Negombo. Spend the rest of the day relaxing after your flight, enjoying the beach, hotel pool, or a peaceful sunset walk before your overnight stay.
Travel north to Wilpattu National Park, Sri Lanka’s largest national park and one of the island’s best wilderness destinations. After checking in at your safari camp or lodge, set out on an afternoon private jeep safari in search of leopards, elephants, sloth bears, deer, crocodiles, and abundant birdlife.
Begin the morning with an optional guided nature walk or birdwatching experience around the Wilpattu region. Continue to the sacred city of Anuradhapura to explore ancient stupas, monasteries, reservoirs, and the historic Sri Maha Bodhi tree. Later, drive to Habarana and settle into your hotel.
Climb the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its ancient frescoes, landscaped gardens, and panoramic summit views. In the afternoon, enjoy a jeep safari in Minneriya or Kaudulla National Park, selected according to seasonal wildlife movements and elephant gatherings.
Visit the magnificent Dambulla Cave Temple, home to centuries-old Buddhist paintings and statues. Continue through Matale, stopping at a spice garden to learn about Sri Lanka’s traditional herbs and spices. Arrive in Kandy and either visit the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic or enjoy a relaxing walk beside Kandy Lake.
Journey into Sri Lanka’s misty hill country by scenic train or private vehicle. Travel through tea-covered mountains, waterfalls, and charming highland towns, with opportunities to visit a tea plantation, enjoy Gregory Lake, or take a gentle nature walk. Continue to Ella for a relaxing overnight stay among the hills.
Drive south to Udawalawe and visit the Elephant Transit Home, where orphaned elephant calves are rehabilitated before being released into the wild. Later, embark on an afternoon jeep safari in Udawalawe National Park, famous for its large elephant population, open grasslands, water buffalo, crocodiles, and birdlife.
Start the final day with an early morning safari in Yala National Park, one of the best places in Sri Lanka to search for leopards, sloth bears, elephants, deer, and colourful bird species. After the safari, continue to Colombo, the airport, or a southern beach destination for your onward journey or departure.
