Travel inland to Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, where the family can observe elephant feeding and bathing activities. Continue toward Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle and settle into your hotel near Sigiriya for a relaxed evening.
Climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress early in the morning while temperatures are cooler and enjoy sweeping views from the summit. Later, experience rural village life with a traditional bullock cart ride, a peaceful catamaran journey, and a local village lunch. Parents may also choose an optional Ayurvedic head massage.
Visit Dambulla Cave Temple to admire its colourful Buddha statues and historic cave paintings at a manageable family pace. Continue through Matale with a stop at a fragrant spice garden, then reach Kandy for an energetic traditional Kandyan dance performance.
Spend the morning exploring the spacious Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens, ideal for children and relaxed family walks. Later, stroll around Kandy Lake or enjoy a short paddle boat ride before visiting the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic.
Board one of Sri Lanka’s famous scenic trains from Kandy to Nanu Oya, passing misty hills and tea plantations. Visit a working tea factory, then enjoy family activities around Gregory Lake, including swan boats and optional pony rides.
Travel toward Ella with a stop at beautiful Ramboda Falls. Visit the iconic Nine Arches Bridge and take an easy family-friendly hike up Little Adam’s Peak. End the day relaxing at a comfortable lodge with peaceful mountain views.
Enjoy a scenic drive from the highlands toward Yala. After checking into your safari lodge, the family can relax with optional pool time or let the children enjoy the lodge gardens before the next morning’s wildlife adventure.
Set out on a morning jeep safari through Yala National Park, looking for elephants, buffaloes, crocodiles, colourful birds, and possibly a leopard. After lunch, continue to the south coast and settle in beside the beach at Mirissa.
Enjoy a flexible beach day in Mirissa. During the main season from December to April, an optional whale-watching cruise can be arranged. Alternatively, take a day trip to Galle Fort for colonial streets, family-friendly cafés, ice cream, and lighthouse views.
After breakfast, travel toward Bandaranaike International Airport using the southern expressway. Depending on your flight time, make an optional short stop at the Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery before your airport drop-off and departure.
